To Our Beloved Forebears in Faith

Grace and peace to you, children of Abraham, from those of us once far off—strangers to covenant, cut off from promise, adrift without hope or God in the world. But now, in Christ Jesus, we who were outsiders have been brought near by the very mercy first shown to you.

We write not to boast, but to bear witness.

For we were not given the Law, nor the Prophets, nor the temple service. The oracles of God did not come to us by birth. We had no Passover, no Sinai, no Davidic throne. And yet—because of you—because through your people came the Messiah, we now stand forgiven and full.

It was your Scriptures that told of Him. Your prophets who glimpsed His glory. Your psalms that ached for His appearing.

And now we, the wild branches, have been grafted in. Not to replace, but to share. Not to claim superiority, but to magnify mercy. We who walked in darkness now live in His light—light that once shone upon your kings and kindled your prophets.

In Him, the dividing wall has been torn down. Jew and Gentile, one new humanity. We did not build the temple—but by His Spirit, we’ve become one with you, living stones, a dwelling for God. And yet we know: you were the firstborn. We merely joined the feast late.

Do you not see what you’ve given us?

You showed us what covenant looks like. You showed us what it means to wrestle with God. You showed us what it means to hope for the Holy One of Israel.

And when He came—your own Messiah, the fulfillment of your story—many of you turned away, even as we, who had no story, found ourselves swept into yours.

This, then, is the mystery: that the nations would receive what was promised to you—and in doing so, stir your hearts to seek again the One who calls you by name.

Come, then. Return to the fountain. Let the riches of grace once more clothe the children of promise. We stand in awe of your inheritance—do not abandon it.

For the day is near when every tribe and tongue will bow—not to a foreign god, but to the King of Israel, your King. Our joy would not be complete unless you were beside us. Come home.
