When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table. But the Pharisee was surprised when he noticed that Jesus did not first wash before the meal. Luke 11:37-38 NIV
Yes, Jesus dined with a Pharisee. Jesus wanted to give all a chance to hear God’s word and be open to it. This Pharisee unfortunately was focused on man-made rules though, instead of God’s word. The outward act of washing of the hands was the act which was important to him How can one be focused on doing the will of God when they are really focused on the things of man? It is easy to get caught up in the things of this world. Pray that God will keep you focused on what comes from Him.
