“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9 NIV
What does this mean? Do we have a carte blanche to ask the Lord for anything we desire and expect to receive it? Will we find everything we seek? And what lies behind the doors at which we knock?
First, we must ask humbly and ask for that which we need. The Lord knows all that we need. If we ask for something frivolous or something we do not need, we may not receive it. God knows what is best for us. We may not find everything we seek, but do we seek that which we truly need, that which will helps us in advancing the kingdom? If we knock at a door which leads to something bad, will the Lord open that door for us? Just keep in mind that in this statement Jesus wants us to ask, seek, and knock wisely and humbly. Know that He will provide for your every need if you do so.
