I had been thinking about writing and publishing a book that deals with the topic of teenage suicide for a few years. When I was a junior in high school, we studied the topic of suicide in my health class and my ethics class. We learned the warning signs that show that someone is thinking about committing suicide. These signs include giving away one's favorite possessions and losing interest in things that once held one's interest. You will see these signs in the young man in the story you are about to read. I also learned that suicide can be prevented. It is very important for loved ones to pay attention to the warning signs that show that a loved one is thinking about committing suicide. Suicide can only be prevented when people recognize the warning signs. As you read this book, you will notice that the young man's little sister will notice the signs when no one else does. The things she does will encourage him to want to keep on living.
