There is no way one can talk about a disciple without mention of the word "discipline". The two words have a close affinity. In other words, they are closely connected.

The Scriptures make it known that discipleship is intimately tied to self-control. This means a follower of Jesus must actively choose to place God's will over his desires and ambitions.

This is a core principle for authentic discipleship, highlighting a commitment that transcends personal comfort and involves embracing sacrifice and following Christ's example.

Do you know that discipleship has its foundation in discipline? One of the fruits of the Spirit as contained in the epistle of Apostle Paul to the Galatians, ditto all disciples, is self-discipline or self-control, Galatians 5:22-23. It is desired of every disciple to control himself in all things. What an unbeliever can do without a second thought cannot be engaged in by a disciple indeed. He has to be separated to only what will honor the Lord his God.

He must forgo anything that will cause a non-disciple, in other words, an enemy of God to blaspheme the name of the Lord, 2 Samuel 12:14.

Every serious disciple will restrict himself from any harmful deed that could impair his smooth relationship with his Lord. He will control himself in every aspect of his life, spiritually,1 Corinthians 14:32, physically 1 Thessalonians 4:4, and emotionally, James 1:19 to please the Lord only.

Are you a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ? If yes, self-discipline must be your watchword. Be self-disciplined! Anyone who fails to discipline himself will be disciplined by God, Genesis 20:6 or man, 1 Kings 22:8. Stay blessed and, prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
