Hidden From The Learned

At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.” Luke 10:21 NIV

Who, here, are the wise and learned. They are those who believe they know and understand God. They have formal education and believe that they are privileged in the eye of God and are “above” the common folk. The little children are those who know that they, of their own being are unworthy of God’s mercy and blessing but come to the Lord with a repentant heart and seek His mercy and grace. These little children know that spiritually they are bankrupt, except for the mercy of God. God seeks out the repentant sinner, not the self-righteous.
