“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Ps 139:14 NIV

Have you seen the video clip of what’s called, “The spark of life”? The moment sperm successfully fertilizes a human egg, it literally creates a bright spark that kick-starts the egg to life. It’s an amazing thing to see.

One morning while waking I had an unexpected thought that so boggled my mind, I struggled long to find the right words to describe it. For the insight sounded crazy, but when dealing with the Creator of all life, I knew it was not.

I now see the above verse, and the “spark of life”, in a new light, for the realization hit me how for each of us, our life had once been encapsulated in a single microscopic cell, then when united with another designed for that purpose, burst into life with a spark!

Now imagine how like a rosebud, it then began to unfurl all the wonders of human life that God had hidden within, eventually becoming a living, breathing soul, body, and spirit, with all its unique physical characteristics, emotions, feelings, abilities, talents, character, disposition, and more … readying itself to experience life … to experience all that makes you and I unique, one-of-a-kind individuals. There never has been, nor ever will be again, a person like you or me.

When we consider the power and wonder that lay dormant in the single cell we once were, how can we believe something so complex as “life” came into being by chance? God gave us life for a purpose.  And He sent us Jesus, His Son, and His Word, to show and teach us how to best live it for now and the Kingdom life to come.

Someone once said, “Life is God’s gift to man, what we do with it can be our gift back to Him.” That too now has new meaning for me. How about you? I hope you too feel blessed with the wonder of it all.
