I stand in wonder as I gaze at this bridge
Not a scratch I did see
No weather worn spots
A spit-shine polish

I step forward and look underneath
To what detail my eyes did see
My heart sank and I gulped to catch my breath
Tears streamed down with the fear I saw
Tortured souls and gnashing of teeth
As demons claimed their victory

I hear the sound of a still quiet voice
Rushes my senses and captivates me
“Come to me and I will set you free.”

I try to move and fear stops my feet
Trembling and knowledge
hold my eyes underneath

“Look up. Come to me and I will set you free.”
I take a deep breath and try to calm
As I slowly let go
Not knowing what is to come

A vision of light
At the end of the bridge
As a peace begins to come
The fear begins to calm
“Come to me and I will set you free.”

The first step is hard
As I lift my tired leg
The second even harder
As I hear the souls scream

The third becomes more easy
As Your hand you open for me
The fourth the fear is gone
As I grab Your hand and hold on

“Come to me and I will set you free.”
As I turn to look back
to see the bridge is now behind
And You my Lord are now with me.
