Preparing The Seventy Two Part 1

After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Luke 10:1-2 NIV

Jesus sent out seventy two, in pairs of two to go ahead of Him in areas to which He would be going. He wanted the message of the kingdom of God to be preached before He arrived in these towns. First, He wanted these indivduals to know that they were going into a harvest. The fields were ripe for picking. It was important that these pray that God would send more workers into the harvest. Today the situation is even more important as there are many more souls in need of the saving grace of God, and the number of workers is small. There are even those who are Christian who do not share the Good News with others. What we possess is not to be hoarded. God’s word is to be shared to a world in need.
