And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.” Luke 9:22 NIV

Notice here that Jesus said He MUST face suffering and be killed. He knew all for which He came to earth. Yes, He did teach us about the Heavenly Father. But knowledge about the Heavenly Father does not grant us a eternity with Him. We are sinful, and sin cannot stand in the presence of God. For us to stand before God, redeemed, our sin must be taken away and we must be reborn. This is a task which we cannot accomplish for ourselves. Jesus Christ became the sacrifice which restores us to the Father. But we must accept this as truth and live accrding to what the Lord asks of us. Then His sacrifice shall be our redemption.
