God’s Salvation and Righteousness is Eternal and Forever

What is Righteousness? Righteousness is conformation and obedience to an upright standard of living, holiness, to live holy, to be spiritually clean. “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ,” (Romans 5:17). “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous,” (Romans 5:19). Righteousness is a liberation from sin; a purification from sin and lawlessness; to live under the law of love and grace. We have been made righteous and liberated from the law of sin and death through the precious blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (Romans 8:2). “In Christ, “…we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence,” (Ephesians 1:7-8).

What is Salvation? - Salvation is a free gift of eternal life that we have been given by God upon belief in Christ, confession of our sins, and repentance of our sins. To have salvation means to be saved by grace and cleansed of all unrighteousness. We can’t purify ourselves, not even through our good works. It is only through the blood of Christ that we are saved and offered this free gift of salvation. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” (I John 1:9). “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast,” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Repentance is a component of true salvation. “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish,” (Luke 13:3).
Salvation involves a change in heart. “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honored me with their lips; but their heart is far from me,” (Matthew 15:8). “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace,” (Romans 6:14). “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with (Jesus Christ), that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin,” (Romans 6:6). We cannot inherit salvation and practice sin at the same time. Salvation involves a turning away from sins to faithfully follow Christ. Salvation involves a total denial of self. “Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils,” (I Corinthians 10:21). We must drink of the Rock of Christ; the Rock of Salvation. “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ,” (I Corinthians 10:4).

What Is Unrighteousness? Unrighteousness is unlawful works and deeds, iniquity, sin, works of the flesh, and sinful practices.
A Call to Righteousness. “I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness,” (Romans 6:19). “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,” (Romans 6:22-23).

God’s salvation and righteousness is eternal; lasting forever. “My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust. Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their reviling. For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation from generation to generation,” (Isaiah 51: 5-8 KJV).

It is through Christ we obtain this eternal salvation and righteousness. Jesus’ name means God saves. “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song, he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation,” (Isaiah 12:2-3 KJV). Jesus has the wells of salvation that we will draw water from or (everlasting life from). Jesus tells the Samaritan woman at the well: “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life,” (John 4:14 KJV).

Jesus is our salvation. Jesus is our bread of life. “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, that ye also have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me. And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day,” (John 6: 35-40 KJV).

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world,” (John 6:47-51 KJV).
Again, Jesus is our salvation. Jesus is our righteousness. We must clothe ourselves with righteousness. “Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy,” (Psalms 132:9). “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light,” (I Peter 2:9). “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags …,” (Isaiah 64:6). “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with jewels,” (Isaiah 61:10).

“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof,” (Romans 13:12-14 KJV).

For Jesus says: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My father, which gave them to me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand,” (John 10: 27-29 KJV).
