Making a trip to town for Christmas shopping? Don’t forget batteries; many toys and gizmos need batteries to operate; pity the parents who forget to buy them. Children and teens will be disappointed if they discover batteries are not included in long awaited toys or electronics. What about poor Dad? He’d be unable to hear the whir of battery operated tools without batteries.

Oh, and don’t forget to keep your cell phone charged. You’ll want to take pictures of family and friends Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Don’t miss a minute of festivities; the celebration of Christ Jesus’ birthday is coming. You’ll be making memories. As Christians, we depend on a far greater power than batteries or chargers.

…“but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth (Acts 1:8 NASB).”

Wise men looked to the sky for the Bethlehem star. Following Jesus’ death and resurrection, His disciples (men of Galilee) looked too.

“And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were watching, and a cloud took Him up, out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them, and they said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven (Acts 1:9-11 NASB).”

Celebrate advent; He’s coming again!
