Jesus Within

The disciples cried out,
Afraid that they would die,
As the fierce winds raged on,
And the billows crashed high;
But they remembered Who was with them there;
For He knew, and cared, and answered their prayer!

Jesus knows the fierce winds
That would threaten my soul;
He sees ev’ry heartache,
And longs to make me whole;
Yet He also knows just what it will take,
His perfect likeness, in me to create!

Jesus whispers to me,
“Child, don’t be afraid!
I am here, within you;
In my likeness you’re made!
I see the storm, and the waves that would drown;
I call you above them; not to be cast down!”

I find rest in His arms,
Not fearing the gale,
For I know He’s within,
And will direct my sail;
That this storm may draw me, yet closer still;
And mold and make me in His perfect will!

Someday the storm will pass,
And the waves be at rest;
And I will see clearly
That my Father knew best!
But until then, I choose to trust my God’s hand,
Even if I never fully understand!
