The Practice of Kindness

It’s funny how we forget.  We forget a lot, and it’s very sad.  There is so much to learn when we except Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.  The Lord continually draws us to look and see.  What do you see?  Do we hear this?  What are you learning today?  Do you remember who you are?  Do you remember you are not of this world?  Do you remember that you are a new creation in Christ, that old things have passed away and all things have become new?  Are you remembering the law of kindness, that it should always be in your mouth?  The law of kindness and gentleness must always be your behavior.  Do you remember,  we will be tested by the Father, so that we can see.  Are we remembering?

Be filled with the Spirit so that you don’t fulfill the lust of the flesh.  When you look at that scripture it is easy to see it as not to practice idolatry or fornication, or not to steal or murder.  These are fruit of the flesh right?  How do we walk in the fruit of the Spirit on a daily, minute by minute basis?

Sometimes we can get lost in this order from the Lord: to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh, especially when you are broad sided suddenly with a circumstance that comes upon you that you did not expect.  Situations always present themselves for the word’s sake.  See that you are not ensnared by a care.  When circumstances arise, see it as a good way to measure yourself, because Paul and Peter said to test yourself to see if you are in the faith.

I know we slip, at times when we are expecting things to go one way.  Plans can change and you can be broadsided with something you did not expect.  This can be seen possibly as a test to see in whom your faith and trust lies.  If you notice a feeling of anxiety, frustration or anger suddenly arise within you because of  a change of plans or someone saying something that you did not expect, what is that?  It’s an opportunity.  It’s an opportunity to make a split second decision to react in the flesh or react in the Spirit.

For Example:

Many Christians take the approach of getting the last word when they are faced with something they didn’t expect.  The feeling that I have to protect myself and make known just how important I am.  I must remind that person, that adult I’m addressing, that I’m important.  That my time is precious and so please remember how important I am.

Remember you are more important to the

 Father than all of His creation. 

More important than the grass of the field.

You are more important than beautiful flowers,

and the fowl of the air. 

You are His.

The problem with the above approach as a believer is, would this be Yeshua’s (Jesus) approach?  You know as well as I, that this is not his way.  In reading the scriptures there are examples of him being short with the Pharisees and judgmental leaders of his time.  I am not going to pretend that I know the rationale behind this.  All I can say about this is:  He appeared to have been short with them.  Note I say appeared, but when speaking to people personally, He always exhibited meekness, humility, gentleness, kindness, longsuffering etc.  All of which are the fruit of the Spirit.  All of which we must remember and practice.  All of which must be nurtured and guarded in our hearts and minds always, because we are children of the King, and ambassadors of the Kingdom of God,  who represent our Father in Heaven. 

Remember we must not take his name in vain or misrepresent His name or authority corruptly.  You are a King’s kid.  So, in this regard remember when faced with various situations throughout your day, take your time before you react, because it will cause a reaction by the recipient. For every action there is a reaction, in some way shape or form.   So walk in the Spirit and do not fulfill the lust of your flesh no matter how small.  Take a moment to gather yourself to see where this is coming from and how your reaction will affect you yes, but also how your reaction to every situation affects others.  Remember you are the Church, the Bride of Christ, and ambassadors of the Kingdom of God.

The fruit meekness; as all of the fruit of the Spirit, grows when nurtured by the follower and disciple of Christ, who has repented and abandoned his or her sin for Christ. The  Spirit of Christ is in you.  Yeshua said I give you my peace.  Not the peace that the world knows but My Peace.  His peace passes all understanding in every situation of life.  His peace is a fruit of the Spirit.  His peace brings order.  He is who we walk with and who is in us.  The Prince of Peace.  My Peace I give to you.  My Shalom.  My complete wholeness that cast out all fear, chaos, anxiety and anger.   It ushers in the stillness and quietness of His Spirit.  You have His peace in you.
