Wail and Sleep

Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.” Luke 8:52 NIV

Do we at times “wail”, feeling sorry for ourselves because of a particular situation we face? Are we “sleeping” spiritually, losing sight of the power of the Lord, feeling we are lost and numbed? Christ tells us to stop wailing, to stop feeling sorry for ourselves, and to instead believe in Him and not let ourselves fall into doubting and trying to depend on our own handling of the situation we face.

One evening in 2017 I was visiting a friend in the hospital. Her lungs were 90% filled with fluids and the doctors did not expect her to live more than a few hours. I was reading the bible to her and speaking about heaven. As she dozed off, I could feel grief inside and felt a heavy burden on my shoulders and heart. Then I heard a voice say “Let go and give it over to me.” Suddenly I was filled with a peace that I knew was from the Lord. Two days later my friend had totally recovered. Everyone was amazed, family and doctors. I knew that God had something planned when He told me to let go. I did not know what to expect, but He knew what I needed. Don’t wail nor sleep when it comes to difficult situations. Just let go and give it to God.

Thank you, Roland. Praise the Lord for that lovely testimony. He really is able to do far more and above what we can even think.
