What God Sees

Man sees the outer picture:
The things people say, and do;
But our God looks at the heart,
And searches it through and through.

We can live for other’s praise,
And make sure we do, just right,
But lose our heart’s first love,
And falter in our life’s fight.

We can think our way is right,
And be deceived from within.
But God sees all things clearly,
And wants to show us our sin.

We can look at our brother,
Who doesn’t ‘have each thing down’,
And be quick to judge his heart,
And look on him with a frown.

Our God sees every heart;
Each thought and desire within;
He searches and knows each one,
And sees the good, and the sin.

If we’ll turn our eyes on Him,
And ask Him to search our heart,
He will show us what’s inside,
And look into every part.

God will help us see clearly,
And give grace to follow Him,
When we come with humility,
And yield our heart to Him.
