What is this grave world heading toward—
what is its destiny—
with hatred, violence, anger, dread,
and its complexity?

With politics on battlegrounds—
each fighting its own war—
the world is facing challenges,
disorder, and much more.

And many exercise their rights  
to stress what they believe.
Some rally based on evidence,  
which may cause some to grieve.    

These protests take on many forms—
some groups are found marching.
Others may prefer to chant    
while some are heard singing.        

And there are those who rally in
the parks or on the streets.
They tend to stop the passersby
and hand them paper sheets.

These leaflets state their points of view,      
which may cause some to pause,
as their opinions may differ
from a subversive cause.  

Objections 'round the world are heard—
some march in peace—some not.
Protestors choose their ways and means
to those within earshot.    

No matter what the circumstance
we all have our own views,
but they should not be carried out
to harm or to abuse.
