Jesus Christ, The Quickener

Do you know that our Lord Jesus Christ is a quickener?  1 Corinthians 15:45 (KJV) says - “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit”.  This scripture describes our Lord Jesus Christ as a quickening spirit. Another translation of that verse describes him as a life-giver.  He died for our sins and resurrected on the third day. He baptized his Church with the Holy Spirit. And ever since, He has been quickening and giving life to everyone who calls on Him and believes in Him. After his resurrection, Jesus Christ got back his divine supreme and immortality status which makes him unlimited. Ephesians 1:23 says He now fills all in all. No wonder, Apostle Paul described Him as a quickening spirit in 1 Corinthians 15:45. He is no longer limited by the mortal flesh he wore on the earth for 33 years. He is now King eternal, King Immortal and the hope of glory dwelling in the heart of every believer.

While He was on earth in his early days, He gave an hint to his disciples on his ability to quicken lives. He told them. “For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will” (John 5:21 KJV). Another translation says, “For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will (John 5:21 NKJV).

John the Baptist also knew that Christ had this quickening ability. For he said in Matthew 3:11,  Mark 1:8, and Luke 3:16, “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire”.

Now many people often think its only the Holy Spirit that quickens. Because Romans 8:11 says, “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you”. Yes, the Holy Spirit quickens us and shall quicken us. But Christ also quickens us. The members of the trinity work hand in hand in the quickening process. They always work in collaboration. John 5:21 makes it clear that God the Father and Christ quickens us. So in summary, God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) quickens us.

As you know, the Lord Jesus Christ (in collaboration with God the Father) sent the Holy Spirit as He promised in Luke 24:29. And based on the words of John the Baptist, we can say, the Lord Jesus baptized the 120 disciples in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. Even though Christ was invisible, He was there with them, baptizing every one of them with the Holy Spirit. Working in collaboration with the Holy Spirit. Quickening them, and empowering them for the work of ministry. Halleluyah! Glory be to God!!

Have you been baptized with the Holy Spirit? If your answer is No. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to fill you and baptize you with the power of the Holy Spirit. Cast your gaze on Him. Fix your attention on Him and He will baptize you. If you have been baptized with the power of the Holy Spirit and can speak in tongues. Ensure you speak in tongues often. As you do, God will quicken you. The river of life will flow into your heart and out of your heart. The life of God will be made manifest in your life and your life will be transformed in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for revealing yourself to me as my quickener and life-giver. I ask that you continually quicken me, fill me with your life, power and Holy Spirit. Unto the praise and glory of your name. I pray with thanksgiving in Jesus name.
