God as the sniffing hound of heaven has attentively and compassionately followed the bloody trail of humankind as it has staggered throughout history, stumbling from one disaster to the next, groaning under the burden of its own misery, and guided only by the dim and flickering light of its own "bright ideas". Mingled in the dust and blood of one war were always the toxic sprouting seeds of the next one.
