     There is good criticism, and there is bad criticism.  Our current world is swimming in bad criticism as men and women, boys and girls—even in the church—do NOT know the true difference between the two.  Pastor James A. McMenis come brining a work that will give the reader a clear difference between the two in Critical Condition: The Danger of Being Over Critical and Judgmental (2016, 145 pages, Xulon Press).

      McMenis, of Word of God Ministries out of Shreveport, Louisiana, has produced a book from a biblical perspective on being judgmental and overly critical in relationships, in the church, on the job, and out in the streets.  One could say that this book should become recommended reading among grades 6-12 students…as well as their teachers.  The KJV Bible is loaded with great examples of how one should control their mouth—especially in those heated situations we tend to find ourselves on a day-to-day basis.

      If you find yourself being overly critical, McMenis provides some much-needed spiritual food for thought that will help you to get rid of a critical spirit and re-launch your mind with biblical scripture and principles that will take the ‘sting’ out of your tongue.  McMenis pulls from his own experiences in a variety of sections of this book—experiences that may seem a little painful for some, but that will cause you understand how important it is to overcome an overly critical stronghold(s) in your life.  This is a book that will be a reference to turn to over the course of time.

      This is NOT a book that one may digest in one sitting.  It is easy to ‘hunt down’ your area of weakness in your thinking to develop an overcoming mindset.  Chapters include: The “Critical” Condition, Envy, Defensiveness and Love Unfailing, Uncompromised.  However, it is recommended to take this work one chapter at a time, as there are a LOT of moving parts to study.

      Critical Condition: The Danger of Being Over Critical and Judgmental can be found through your favorite electronic book connection, or through your local bookstore.  It’s worth the hunt!
