LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!

LUKE 8: 16 “For no man lights a candle and places it under a bushel (basket); rather, he sets it on a lamp stand so that everyone may see the light.”

 What do you do when trying to light a candle and it does not cooperate?

 First you hold the fire over it a bit longer.

If it continues to not light you dig into the body of the candle to expose more of the wick. If at long last it lights but soon extinguishes it’s light and continues to do so, that candle gets set aside or thrown away because it is useless.

Consider: Is that not also what we are advised happens to us a Christians if we do not permit, or make, our light of testimony for Jesus to shine? God made us to shine His Light into the world in which we live; shine as a light in the dark places. Even the smallest light dispels the darkness so that those around us may get sight of Jesus and His love for all people.

If we do not radiate the Light of His Word in deeds showing God’s goodness, then we are useless for that purpose of allowing people about us to SEE Him in our actions.

 “Let your light so shine so that others may see YOUR good works and glorify your Father, which is in Heaven!” Matthew 5:16
