AUTUMN

The quietness of autumn
Brings total peace to ones soul
Summer is gone and autumn looks at me with sweet perfection
Have you been there?

Just a little chill is in the air, the breeze blows gently in the sun
a kaleidoscope of color is found as the leaves
fall gently to the ground
red, yellow, orange and brown

The stillness of the meadow lets me hear the softness of butterfly wings
as they drown in the sweet nectar of life!
I have tasted that nectar; I have drunk its sweet perfume
and now I look longingly toward winter!

I see the shadows of sun light fade with the evening shadows
Darkness must come in life’s cycle
but please, not yet
I must continue to see Michael
Light still hangs on; fighting till the last ray is hidden
somewhere back there in the deep forest of life!

My mind goes drifting to spring when all things were new
life was easy and my future lay ahead of me like the road to eternity
I touched my future with my right hand, and stored yesterday in my left:
Never daring to remember the past!

It’s dead, yesterday is dead, thrown away with memories,
bad or good doest not matter, for they are only memories!
Memories that are swept toward the hereafter
Alive in the mind of me
Carried because I have lived
The keeper is I and they will never die

Can I change memories?
Yes, I must look ahead with affection for youth,
teaching, helping, caring, sharing ones own ideas of life!
Good wholesome thoughts of Christ and the redeemed.
Making beautiful memories
Together, we can see memories of an after life
where all is peace, love, and total happiness!
And winter is gone forever!
