When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” Luke 5:20 NIV
I wonder if Jesus’ comment to this man seemed strange to him. Here he lay paralyzed, and Jesus’ comments did not deal with that issue, but that his sins were forgiven. Believe me, this was much more important for the man. We live in sin unless we have been forgiven by our Lord. Our sin controls us. Only Jesus can release us from slavery to sin. Of our own will, we are helpless. Your faith in Jesus, who He is and all that He has done can lead to your forgiveness of your sins. Humbly approach Him with a repentant heart.
