I saw the great plain
that stretched out into darkness,
into the great nothingness of
the unknown.
The numbness of it’s heaviness
and tireless shallowness
dragged on and on.
It was a burden doubled by
a lonely cry with
an echo that heckled.
Did I experience a soul
Drowning in hell?

I felt the lift of lightness;
the softness of His delightness.
Like a shy, yet inquisitive deer
venturing to draw near;
gentle and graceful;
intimacy faceful.
Eye to eye in the stillness,
lashes gently lowering.
Intense, but not cowering.
Heart soothing pouring
A slow faithful flowering.
Do I experience a soul
Swimming in heaven?
Is it just mine?
You'd think it were many.
