No one was created to live by himself alone. God, the Creator of all things decided to make the first woman, Eve, because He saw that it was not good for the man, Adam, to live alone.

Which type of companion was made for him? She was a "help meet", (King James Version (KJV). The New King James Version (NKJV) translates it to someone "comparable" to Adam.

All the other translations are correct and have deep meanings. Now let us limit our discussion to KJV. A "help meet". Every help that does not meet the needs of the helped cannot be said to be of value to him. Many times in life, if you say "all the time", it is well, the Lord brings two or more people together for mutual benefits. However, mankind distorts this glorious plan of God for selfish reasons (s).

Relationships are not limited to marriage. It includes all forms of dealings you can think of especially among human beings.

One noticeable thing is that people fail to review their relationships with others. So many people are attached to those whose lives do not add anything of value to their lives except if it will drain what is good out of them.

Note that I am not talking of expecting those you help to mandatorily help you back. Where this is possible, it is not a big thing or sin.

A thorough review of your association with others will reveal those who add value to your life. Pay attention to the truth that money is not the only value that can be added. It can be the last to be considered as a value.

Okay? Before I go to the Scriptures to dig out an example, let me come to discuss the statement of an elderly man. He said that if he gave a piece of clothing to a fashion designer for sowing and within three months he could not buy new clothes, he would stop doing business with such a designer. According to him, it means that their destinies are working against each other.

Can this be true? Let us consider an example from the Scriptures where values were added. Laban, the uncle of Jacob was like this elderly man. He was a very good observer. He noticed what was happening before the arrival of Jacob into his life and house. He compared it with happening when he arrived. He did not hide
the truth, he told him, when Jacob purposed to depart from him,
"I pray thee, if I have found favor in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake." Genesis 30:27.

Have you learned from your experience that things have turned positive because of your relationship with a new person you have joined with? Are you perceptive enough to learn from your experience that your association with a person or group of people is the only reason why things have turned upside down?

Jehosaphat was a righteous king of Judah. When he joined the business with the house of Ahab, the Lord destroyed the work of his hand. Can you see that you need to review your relationship with people?

If the hosts of darkness trouble you, who is their ambassador in your life? Have you found out? What step(s) have you taken or do you want to take to separate yourself from him or them? You need not only to act but act promptly. Delay is very dangerous.

Beloved Pilgrim, if your relationship with someone is of benefit to you, do not be selfish, add value to his life. Never consider taking him or her captive to serve you forever. He may be used for your good for a season. Let him proceed at the right time chosen by the Lord. If you allow him to go, the Lord will raise another person. He has alternatives. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
