In the Parable of the Lost Silver Coin by Jesus Christ, the woman who lost it took practical and unfailing steps to find it. It is a pattern to follow.
The lost silver coin can be likened to a precious child of God who is lost in the assembly of God's people (church). Such people are at home but they are lost. They are not only strangers to themselves but they are to the kingdom of God and those things that are connected to it. When you are discussing spiritual things with them, they just can't comprehend it.
Such people ask funny, foolish, and annoying questions. They say so many blasphemous things against God and His faithful servants.
They are unbelievers in the house of God. What do we do to find them? Using the woman in the parable as a pattern:
[8]“... won't she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it?" Luke 15( in part).
* She lights a lamp.
Note well that it is the owner of the lost silver coin that light the lamp. It is the Lord Who owns every precious soul of His people. He has assigned certain people to see to the welfare of His people. These are the Men and women of God who have been anointed to perform various duties in His household.
Under His guidance, they are to do the needful to find out those who are lost inside the home. Note that the first step is to light the lamp.
The lamp is the Word of God. The woman had the lamp already. She only needs to put light on it. This simply means that there are so many Holy Bibles that are begging for reading. Sadly, it cannot provide the necessary results until it is not only opened but read, understood, and taught to the people of God. Otherwise, lost sons and daughters of God will remain in the assembly of God's people not knowing who they are Who their God is, and how their relationship with God should be.
*She sweeps the entire house.
Please, let us pay attention to the truth that something will be used to sweep. In some cultures, a bunch of brooms will be employed to carry out the sweeping. What can this be? A bunch of sound doctrines will be needed to carry out the sweeping in the house of God to locate and 'bring home" a lost child of God.
The bunch of sound doctrines must be thoroughly taught and understood by the congregation. It is the Holy Spirit Who knows how to use the combined doctrines to win the soul of a man. He inspires the right words at the right time and in the right place and the deeds will be done.
* She searches carefully.
A Minister of God must not be tired nor be wearied in feeding the people of God with sound doctrines. He must continue as the Holy Spirit leads him. He needs to allow the Spirit of God to put words in his mouth so that those words will have the desired effects at the right time.
*Until. This is an issue worthy of examination. Here, let it be pointed out that it is not over until it is over. Sound doctrines must be preached without ceasing. It is a must. It is not for a season but until the lost is found.
I think an example will drive the point home here. What can this be?!
A man of God has been in the Ministry for twenty-five years with a relatively large congregation. He invited his friend, a Man of God, as a guest speaker in his Church who accepted the offer.
It was during the revival program that the guest speaker taught me deeply about salvation and what it entails. Do you know what happened?! When the man made an altar call to invite those who wanted to give their lives to Jesus Christ, the host Minister was the first to come out. What do you expect the members to do? They surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ.
Note that both men of God have been discussing the Scriptures together but that day was unique. Their discussions saved souls, including that of the host Minister.
Beloved Pilgrim, do you know that it is not too late to surrender your life to Christ? Please, be informed that this is not a matter of titles and their number. This does not talk about gifts and their number. This is about the salvation of your soul and those of the people who surround you. Do not bother about the number of years they have been attending church services. What you should consider is their salvation.
Continue with the sound doctrines until they are saved. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
