The Right Cry

A man lost one of his loved ones and he cried profusely. When someone came to console him to have him stop crying, a health Practitioner counseled that he should be allowed to cry because it would "soothe his nerves."  He knows better.

One thing is sure from the man's statement, sometimes crying or weeping has its benefits. This cannot be denied. It is essential to determine "which crying is good and why?"

When a child does something wrong and he realizes his foolishness and he becomes bitter and sober which ends in crying, the tendency is that he may not be punished for his wrong again. If needs be, it will be minimal.

Unlike a child who sees no wrong in the evil that he does. He deserves to be punished fully. If he cries because of the instruments of correction or the weight of the punishment meted to him, this is useless. It will not benefit him. He has learned nothing.

This happens to people of God most of the time. They mourn and cry for their afflictions or punishments without caring about what brought about the chastisement.
"Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee." Jeremiah 30:15. (King James Version, KJV)

Multitudes of sins will attract sour judgment. As can be seen from the above statement, the cause should be addressed to eliminate the effect.

The Songwriter of Israel paints it right when he writes,
"I used to wander off until you disciplined me;
    but now I closely follow your word.
]My suffering was good for me,
    for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees." Psalm 119:67, 71 (New Living Transaction NLT).

Beloved Pilgrim, do not be occupied with your afflictions but with what brings it about. If it is as a result of disobedience to the Lord's instructions, repent and seek forgiveness. Cry for your wrongdoings and the Lord will abundantly pardon you.

Let me not fail to state here that it is not every sorrow that is brought by wrongdoing. The Righteous undergoes many afflictions but the Lord rescues him from all of them to His glory, Psalm 34:19. Live a righteous life and the name of the Lord will be glorified in your life. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
