 Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me.” John 7:28-29 NIV

Notice here that Jesus cried out. It was very important that as many as possible heard what He had to say. First, He was telling them that they did not really know where He came from, though they believed they knew. Next, He wanted them to know that He did not come of His own authority, as most would. Next, He told them that they did not really know God. Ouch! How that one must have hurt them. Finally, He tells them all that He knows God as He was sent from God to them. These people really must have felt offended, but Jesus was just attempting to steer them straight, though they would not hear of it.
