1]The lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.
[2]I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others." New Living Transaction.
The Lord has always been calling His people in many ways. Calling started with the first man, Adam, in the Garden of Eden. The need for the call arose from sin that crept in which separated man from God. The call was meant to find man with the intention of replacing human filthy and ephemerah righteousness, representated by fig leaves, with a lasting righteousness, representated by a tunic of animal skin, prepared by the Lord.
The call of Abraham was to start a new relationship with the man through whom the whole world would be reconciled to Him, God.
He was called out of a set of people "ready to to perish", the Syrians. He did this that Abraham may excel not only among his people but among other nations where he sojourned and those around him.
He called him to excel by
I. Making him a great nation,
ii. Blessing him more than anyone or nation,
iii. Making him famous,
ivl Being a blessing to others.
No one among his people attained such a feat. No nation achieved this status. He was called out to excel.
Do you know that your call out of your family, race, people or religion to follow the Lord Jesus Christ, is a call to excel? You are called out to become a very good reference point and a pattern for others which has not happened before. Coming out of the enemies of God to be separated to Him is for you to excel.
Not only that, if you follow the Lord intimately and allow your children to do same, your children will continue to excel in their generation after you. Have you answered the Lord Who calls you to follow Him? Make sure you do so faithfully and sincerely throughout your life and you will excel in the name of Jesus Christ. Stay blessed and be prepared for the imminen coming of the Lord.
