Are you easily offended? Are you offended right now at family members, friends, co-workers or neighbors? God knows all. Be honest and let Him help you.
Becoming offended and living there is not a small thing, it is a huge issue in God’s eyes. So, we need to stop ignoring or minimizing it. Offense is a trap of the enemy we are warned multiple times in scripture to avoid. The command to not offend and to not be offended is a thread that runs through the Apostle Paul’s writings. Offense causes the division we see in the world. Division the enemy wants that can lead the easily offended to lead an isolated life where they are easy prey for the enemy.
We need to understand how destructive dwelling in offense is, or we will never change. See it for what it is. At its root and purest form, offense is unforgiveness. It is withholding grace, mercy compassion and forgiveness. It is designed to steal, kill and destroy. Living in offense is a prime example of allowing evil to overcome us.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Rom 12:21 ESV
Jesus could have been greatly offended on the cross. But instead, He gave us the greatest example of overcoming evil with good.
And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34a ESV
The Bible is clear that sin is an offense to God and the Father could hold onto offense for every sin we commit. But what did God choose to do instead? Forget and forgive our sins for His own sake and as an example for us.
“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. Isaiah 43:25 ESV
God is calling us to do the same thing. Let go of all offense, to forgive and forget, to refuse to be trapped by the enemy again. Let it go even if you think they knew what they were doing. Holding on to offense will destroy your life. Let it go now and forgive as Jesus has forgiven you. Forgiveness is our greatest opportunity to overcome evil with good.

Many more New Covenant Bible Studies HERE. Jesus poured out His blood for the New Covenant of grace and truth, replacing the Old Covenant law of Moses. Believers are exclusively under the New Covenant, the last will and testament of Jesus that began after the cross.
And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.” Luke 22:20
