Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.” Mark 10:42 NIV
The words Jesus spoke here 2000 years ago are also so true today. Many who hold an office that is meant to be in service to the people use their authority for their own benefit or for the organization they belong to rather than for the good of those whom they are suppose to seve. The degree to which this occurs depends on the character of the person and also that of the organization to which they belong. Lording one’s authority over those you serve is not a proper thing to do. Did Jesus do that to those who He met? The answer is no. As we share the Good News with those we meet, we should not lord it over them. We just need to share the Word of God and let Him work on the heart of those who hear His Word.
