MAKING YOUR RELATIONSHIP WORK.
Let me share some thoughts with you on building relationships that work from experiences God has given me over the years. To make relationship work, there are four things you should never forget.
1. MENTORING: “every purpose is establish by counsel and with good advice make war” (Prov.20: 18) it is possible to belong to a church and not be pastored. I have seen a lot of people fail in their relationships because they are “lone rangers” who do not take advice or submit themselves to godly counsel. No matter how much mistake you have made it would lead to further mistakes and sometimes lead you in to trouble if you do not talk to some one who is Informed and anointed to deal with such issues. Be open to counsel!
2. KEEP IMPROVING YOURSELF: we live in a time that most people are more interested in what they could get or acquire materially than their personality. Most problems today in relationships that are blamed on the devil are actually problems created by immaturity and bad behaviour of people in the relationship. The devil does not have anything to work with except what you give him. The greatest gift you can give to anyone you are in a relationship with is not just money or good looks beyond all that, is the quality of your person. You must keep improving yourself study, make changes, read, take challenges and become the greatest asset those in relationship with you have.
3. WORK AT IT: anything you neglect decays. It does not matter whether it is your teeth, body or your car everything begins to rot when abandoned. Every level of relationship needs to be worked on daily. your wife, husband, children, fiancé or fiancée will require attention. Develop daily healthy attitude of making investment in your relationship. Successful relationship are built they don’t just happen. I often tell people that marriage is work. Along with love be willing to make the investment that will make the relationship work. Just as you brush your teeth, take your bath may be wash your clothes daily, also do things do things daily that will keep your relationship healthy. Communicate effectively, spend time together and make each other feel relevant and a part of your life. WORK AT IT!
4. STAY CONNECTED: A young man once approached me to ask a question, looking at him I could tell he was not happy about something, so I waited for him to express whatsoever was his frustration. He said “Pastor I have been praying concerning a particular relationship to know if it was God’s will to go ahead and marry or not, but the more I pray the more confused I get…” I realize that most people are not connected to God in one on one relationship they do not spend time with God until they need a particular direction and feel they need to hear from God.
My friend listen to me, you need to maintain healthy daily relationship with the Holy Spirit, not just when you need to hear God. God is always speaking but we need to train ourselves to hear. We need to spend time ALONE exercising ourselves in Gods presence so that when we need a word we can receive as we ask. Making relationship work requires that we stay very close with God’s spirit, so as to receive the inspiration strength and freshness required,
When you are connected to God on a one on one level, he makes your public life run well. Don’t ever allow the devil make you get too busy to stay connected to your source. No matter what happens STAY CONNECTTED.
