From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Matthew 16:21 NIV

Three separate times Jesus spoke of His death and resurrection to His disciples, yet it seemed like all they could focus on was the part of His death and nothing about His resurrection. Jesus performed many miracles before them, including the raising of three people from death. What made them so fearful that the Lord’s death would be the end of Him? We need to fully understand both the death and resurrection of our Lord. We too must die, yet we shall be raised to eternal life with our Lord and Savior.
