And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. John 6:39 NIV

When He, Christ says He will raise up on the last day, to what is He referring? Is it body and soul, or just soul, or body and soul? Good question. All I can offer here is my belief. I believe the soul is conscious forever. Therefore, the soul leaves the physical body and is raised immediately to its eternal residence. So, in that respect the last day refers to the last day of human existence. The body being raised on the last day I believe refers to the day when Jesus comes and raises all bodies from the grave and all come before the Lord for judgement. The body of the believer shall be changed to its heavenly body, which does not decay or deteriorate. It is perfect. The body of the unbeliever quite possibly returns to the grave but the soul of such as these is cast into eternal torment. This is how I believe. Is it correct? Since I am not God, I do not know but we all have beliefs into what happens after the physical body dies.
