True Bread From Heaven

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” John 6:32-33 NIV

God had provided the Israelites manna in the desert to fill them physically. But manna did not provide for the human soul. Christ came that the human soul might be nurtured. He came down from heaven as the true bread, the only bread which could satisfy the soul. The soul must be awakened first though in order for it to notice the need for food. Many search throughout life not realizing that it is the starving soul which cries out for food. Let us share God’s Word that others may know the food they seek after is for the soul and that the food needed is Jesus Christ living within us through the Holy Spirit.
