The first (including Eve) and last Adam were the only ones for whom it was possible not to ever sin. Adam and Eve had to overcome a strong and overriding inclination to do right in order to make the choice to sin as they did. We, as believers, on the other hand, have to overcome a strong inclination to do evil in order to obey. But we are assisted in that choice by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. The last Adam, Jesus, succeeded where the first Adam failed in avoiding sin.
  We will all, believers and unbelievers, stand one day in the Last Adam's presence and give account for the choices we have made in life. As believers it will be much easier to do so then if we have been accountable to one another along the way, as God intends for us to be. If not, one way or another accountability has a way of catching up with us and settling matters. 
  Growth in character and accountability is not usually a spectacular or exciting process, but it can be steady and noticeable. If it's fast growth we want, we have only to surround ourselves with useless weeds (one consequence of the first Adam's choice) and marvel at how fast they spring up, in comparison with more useful plants and vegetables
