The following is a letter I wrote to my Great Grandmother when I lived with my foster
parents.

At this time I had recently made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ but probably wasn't truly saved.

I got a job working part time during the summer with the National Guards but only because my foster father was in the National Guards.  So I have to give him the credit for that.

My foster father was Bill Clough.

Getting this job meant getting my long hair cut which I didn't want to do but after thinking it over I was persuaded to cut my locks and that was not a bad thing.

I had to cut my hair when I first moved to my foster parents becasue the principle at the elementary school where I attended thought it was too long.

Today, I was looking through some of my stored stuff, books, and pamphletts etc and found many letters from the past and among them was this.

Here's a bit of history I thought my readers might find of interest.

Dear Grandma,                                 6-21-73

I sure miss you and the people at the church.

Would you please send me Mr. & Mrs. Holcomb address?

I guess I've lost it or left it at home.
For some reason I feel the Lord has aksed me to write a letter to the Holcombs but I don't have their address.  So when you write back give me their address.  Just call Mr. Holcomb or ask him at church.

Well, I've been very busy.  I work from 6:00 in the morning to 7:30 at night.  I get about 3 hours off between each meal.  Sure is hard serving ten officers and six NCO's.

After I serve them I clear off their trays and all the garbage, then I set it.

How have you been doing?

Give my love to Mr. & Mrs. Holcomb.  Let them read the letter if they like.  Write back and tell me how its going at church.

I'd better be closing now its about time to eat.  Be sure to give me the Holcomb's address.

I've made 48 dollars so far.  Some of the officers haven't paid me yet.  I was thinking about buying my ten-speed with money.

Ask Mr. Doolittle if my Bible came in yet.

Write back as soon as you receive my letter.  Love always
Carl

P. S.  How's mother?  May God be with you and everyone at our church
