Acceptable Counsel

"11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Proverbs

Everyone in life needs advice or counsel in one way or another. There are different times a counsel will be needed. An event will always happen that will call for an advisor or counselor.

Do you know that a wise man also will need it when the need arises? That is life. No man knows everything. When a wise man is being oppressed, he will act foolishly if there is no wise advice available at that time, Ecclesiast 7:7.

The question now arises, "Is every advice to be accepted?"

"No!" is the answer.

Then what is the way out? This is simple. An acceptable counsel always has these in it:

From the Blessed God.
A good counsel has its source in the Lord Who is worthy to be praised. He is the only source of wisdom.

We can see this in the life of David in the days of his troubles when he was being pursued by King Saul.
He sought help from a rich man who failed to render the help, although David and his men have been of great assistance to him, his servants, and animals in the wilderness.
For this purpose, he wanted to take revenge. To prevent him from carrying out his will, Abigail was sent to him to plead with him.
"25:32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:"

Through a blessed person. Not only that, God engages the right person who will give the right advice. Such a person is worthy of praise for doing the work assigned to him and in the right way profitable. That was the reason David said to the woman, Abigail, "...and blessed be thou,.... 1 Samuel1 35:33b.

Let me not fail to tell you that the right person will be directed to you or you are directed to him by Divine arrangement. You will surely be convinced that this is an agent appointed by the Lord.

A blessed advice.
The third part of this is that the counsel will be a blessed one. It will be worthy to be given kudos. It will be the right one. It will also work and do the right thing.

A blessed piece of advice will never fail. It will tilt towards righteousness. It will not point to doing any evil whatsoever. It will be a counsel that will free the heart of the counselee from every form of guilt, regret, or self-condemnation.

The words of David confirm this truth,
"25:33 And blessed be thy advice, ... which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand." 1 Samuel.

Acceptability.
One thing is for the Lord to determine to be praised in the life of His people. It is also a different thing to raise the right person to represent Him in a given assignment.

In the same vein, it is another thing entirely for the person to be advised to recognize the acts of God and the person He has raised for the issue on hand.
This was the case with David in time.

The Scriptures disclosed, "25:35 So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person. 1 Samuel.

Do you know that if Abigail had been unacceptable to David, he would not accept her gift and her advice?

How do you handle those who are sent to use for His glory and praise in your life? Begin to make the necessary assessment of what the Lord plans for you, the people He sent to you, and their given counsel that will end up in celebration of the name of God. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord. God bless you.
