A blank document. This is who we are at birth. We are like a blank document. This morning when I sat down to write, and began a new document, the thought crossed my mind "A Blank Document".
When we are born we enter this world all wide eyed and literally knowing nothing. Yes, I know that we are born with DNA patterns in our being that has created who we are, but cognitively we know nothing at birth. We are pretty much formed by what we continually see and experience. As children we have very little if any control over the environment we grow up in. Thus, we become somewhat subject to that environment until we have developed the cognitive ability to discern what we will allow in our lives.
Most of us are, and was raised to believe in the Highest power. We were raised to believe in the Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. We were taught about the Holy Spirit. As Americans we were raised to be somewhat patriotic in thought. We love our liberty and independence and everything that stands for. Remember, this is how we all were raised. This is what most of us was exposed to. Without thought or consideration we move throughout life subconsciously observing, practicing and believing in things we literally have not considered.
We go to church every Sunday. We read our bibles. We pray some type of prayer (I know it’s sincere.), but do we consider? Do we stop and think about what we are doing? So much has become a habit, and this world is so fast paced that most of the time; most of us, don’t even stop to breath. We don’t stop to consider what we are doing. We don’t think about our human nature and how we see and do things.
We practice and participate in things that completely buck the very core of our Heavenly Father’s nature, and we don’t consider Him. We don’t even think about what we are doing because our lives have become rote. Think about it. Throughout scripture, the LORD continuously spoke about this one particular character trait of His. Which is He is a jealous God. Consider this, that each and every one of us will stand before Him and give an account of our lives and the things that we have done. There is a day coming. The great catching away, in which the Lord himself said, concerning the things that were to come upon the earth, that we should pray that we are counted worthy to escape those things that are coming upon the earth…, Luke 21:36
We must remember whose world we live in. Christ calls the being I’m speaking of; the ruler of this world. Thus, we must consider everything our hands touch because the root of a thing is the truth of what it truly represents. Come out of her and be ye separate so that you don’t take a part in her plagues.
I’m not going to apologize. What I am saying is please consider your path. Consider your thought pattern. Consider your heart. Consider your will and true willingness to be a follower of Christ. Are you willing to pay the cost? Again, I ask, are you willing to pay the cost?.... Consider your efforts to obey the commandments of our Lord; “Thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your soul and with all your strength. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. If you recall, Jesus and the Apostles gave direct instructions as how to maneuver through life on this planet, remembering we are in this world, but we are not of this world.
All I am saying is that we must not just cruse through life hap-hazard Ly without thought of what we are doing. I’m not saying we shouldn’t go to baseball or football games. I’m not saying we should not participate in simple clean fun. Nope. I’m not saying that at all. What I’m saying is that life is not as simple and straight forward as it may appear. Please remember how the enemy approached the Savior; while He was in the desert, to tempt Him. Most of the time “he” is presenting things to us and we don’t even realize or consider it’s him, because these things have become a way of life for everyone. So what’s wrong with it (if anything)?
There is a reason the scriptures say “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15. Because one day, we will give an account.
What I’m saying, because of the world we live in, we should and must consider what we practice and why. We must study. Yes, study the scripture. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you the truth. What is it that God is jealous about? What caused the Israelites to be exiled from their land and go into captivity and punished? What has caused them to be scattered throughout the whole earth? The answer is idolatry. Ouch. Yep that’s it. It was continuous blatant, smacks in God’s face “idolatry,” and because we are Father Abraham’s spiritual seed, and have been grafted into the branch of Israel; as believers and followers of Christ, doesn’t this apply to us as well. Will the Father not punish us as well for our disobedience? Ponder this:
God Disciplines His Sons
4In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons:
“My son, do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord,
and do not lose heart when He rebukes you.
6For the Lord disciplines the one He loves,
and He chastises every son He receives.”
7Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8If you do not experience discipline like everyone else, then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. 9Furthermore, we have all had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them. Should we not much more submit to the Father of our spirits and live? Hebrews 12:4-9 Maybe these words are words of discipline.
The meat of the matter is this: we have much liberty in Christ. Praise the Lord. We don’t have liberty to sin. What is sin. Sin is the transgression of the law. Which law? The greatest commandments because with the two Jesus says that all the law and the prophets hang on these two laws. The greatest one being:
Deut. 6:4-9 4“Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one [the only God]! 5You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and mind and with all your soul and with all your strength [your entire being]. 6These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be [written] on your heart and mind. 7You shall teach them diligently to your children [impressing God’s precepts on their minds and penetrating their hearts with His truths] and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up. 8And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand (forearm), and they shall be used as bands (frontals, frontlets) on your forehead. 9You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Do not harden your hearts as those that were in the desert (remember what happened to them), and make your adjustments accordingly. The wonderful Holy Spirit will teach us and show us all truth if we ask Him.
Study each practice in which you participate, and study the scriptures. Study it’s history. Get to the root of the matter of each. I will not speak abstractly to you. Study about the seventh day rest (make your adjustments accordingly). Study all the holidays; each and every one you take joy in. Google the roots. Ask google the foreboding questions. Is such and such a pagan holiday. Yep, the elephant in the room (Christmas, New Year’s, Halloween, etc.). Dig. Study. Prove to God that you’re doing the right thing. “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begins at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:17.
Do not inquire about, nor practice what the unbeliever is doing. (Do not inquire about their gods, asking, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.” 31You must not worship the LORD your God in this way, because they practice for their gods every abomination which the LORD hates. Deut. 12:30
I don’t know that I will be addressing this topic again. Yes, I am just as guilty as everyone. I’m stepping on toes. I’m stepping on mine too. I live on this planet. Please my brothers and sisters. Make your adjustments accordingly. When these holidays approach please remember these words, and before these holidays arrive study and become acquainted with the Father’s heart. Make no excuses for your stance.
Ultimately, the bottom line is to love HIM so much as to submit our wills to His. Just as Christ submitted His will to the Father and suffered and died for us.
