For the son of the living God,  the only begotten Son of the Father,

HAS SHOWN US THE WAY

Why do we pray?  A couple of weeks ago, I was having a conversation with my Mom about prayer; when the thought crossed my mind about people and prayer.  “I wonder why people pray.   Wouldn’t that be an interesting  subject to investigate?  To ask people, “Do you pray?” and if yes, “Why do you pray?”  That thought rolled around in my mind, off and on for days.  I concluded that this was something that the Lord must have wanted me to investigate and share my findings with you.

So, I randomly began asking people I didn’t know, a couple of these questions.  To my surprise people were open and willing to share such a very sensitive and private subject.  There were about five people total that I asked these questions.

Everyone answered yes to the first question.  “Do you pray?”, with the exception of one; saying no, and then admitted he had prayed about, and asked the Lord for help in a serious matter of concern.   The answers to the second question, “Why do you pray?”, varied, but they all agreed they were praying to the Lord, based on a need.  This answer can be summed up as prayer requests for oneself or others.  Yes, this is something that we are encouraged to do in the scriptures.  To pray for one another and to come to the Lord in pray, supplication with thanksgiving, because we know He hears us.  And in doing so, we receive the peace of God that passes all understanding by Christ Jesus.  What a wonderful Savior.  What a wonderful Lord.  He is always watching, listening, loving and leading us.

The last person I asked was a bright eyed innocent, nine year old little girl, who I have been blessed to get to know recently.  I asked her the same two questions that I had asked the adults.  “Do you pray, and if yes; “Why do you pray?”  She stopped what she was doing and looked up at me and smiled with such sweet innocence; that it touched my heart.  She then nodded, and said, “yes.”  I smiled back at her and asked, “and why do you pray?”  Just writing this down makes me tear up.  She looked at me with her bright innocence, and said, “To talk to God.”  That short, sweet answer touched my heart so deeply.  I then realized why the Lord had me to investigate this, and to share this with others.

He's waiting, family.  He is waiting church.  He is waiting bride of Christ.  He is waiting.  Just come to Him and sit at His feet.  Say from your heart, Father I want nothing, but to sit at your feet.  I want to fellowship with you Father.  Just show me your face Father.  Show me your face.  Not your hand.  Show me your face. 

He wants to pour out of His Spirit on all flesh (Acts 2:17).  He is waiting for those who will come.  Pour out of your Spirit Father.  Pour out of your Spirit.  We Come.

Joel 2:27-29

“And you shall know [without any doubt]

that I am in the midst of Israel [to protect and bless you],

And that I am the LORD your God,

And there is no other;

My people will never be put to shame.

The Promise of the Spirit

“It shall come about after this.

That I shall pour out My Spirit on all mankind;

And your sons and your daughters will prophesy,

Your old men will dream dreams,

Your young men will see visions.

“Even on the male and female servants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days

Our Lord and Savior is our example family.  He continually walked with the Father, and had the full measure of His Spirit in Him.  Jesus is the Way, and He has shown us the way.  We must sit before the Father, and worship Him in spirit and in truth.

“John 4:23-24 But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers. God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”   Amplified Version
