"[18]Then the lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Genesis 2. New Living Translation, NLT.

The above is the Bible record of how the idea of making a woman was conceived by God. He is the Initiator of marriage institution. Marriage is a relatively permanent cure for loneliness.

The notable word in the quoted verse is "a helper who is right for him."
What the NLT calls, "a helper who is right for him." is what King James Version (KJV) termed "a help meet". New King James Version, NKJV calls it "a helper comparable to him".

All these words point to the fact that a man does not need just any helper but a right one. That is someone who is appropriate for his needs. A right helper will meet the needs of him for whom he is available. The helper must be of great asset to the one who needs him.

Do you wonder if a helper is not just a helper?

Yes! There are people who are supposed to be right helpers but ended otherwise. They have become "Physicians of no value" and "miserable comforters" (Job 16:2; 13:4). Job experienced this. It can be anybody's turn in any form and at any level.

The question that concerns you is, "Are you a right helper to your partner? Do you meet his needs? Are you comparable to him? Are you a river of joy to him? Do not be a Physician of no value. Do not live a live of a miserable comforter.

Let it be known to you that if you act right, you will be rewarded for it; if not by man , it will be by God. Not only that, you will be happy to have acted well your part. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
