NOW THAT IS A GOOD QUESTION

Have you noticed that Jesus was good at asking good questions?

I love the Jesus style of teaching. He often asked questions to engage the thoughts of his students, and frequently it was over a meal table.

 The question under consideration now was not at meal time but rather upon a tumultuous Sea.

Mark 4:35 – 5: 1–20

Jesus had just finished teaching by way of several parables, and then says to His Disciples, “Let us go to the other side of the Sea shore.” I am sure they did not question Him about why, but as we read we find the answer of WHY He wanted to do that?

Meanwhile, on the way, as they were sailing, Jesus was resting in the rear part of the ship or boat. The report is that the waves were so high the boat was filled with water. It must have been bad because most of them were professional seamen, fishers. You'd figure they have had previous experiences, but this one gave them a panic. So they awakened Jesus asking Him if He did not care that they were going to die.

The Scripture tells us that Jesus stood up and in a clam voice told the wind to cease blowing and the waves to calm down. AND THEY DID, IMMEDIATELY.

Then, He rebuked His Disciples because they had NOT done that for themselves. His question was, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”  You see, fear is lack of faith.   

We are told that “they feared exceedingly when they saw everything calm.”

Does it not strike fear in us that we can command the things of nature, not humans, but other things of nature, and expect then to obey? Jesus said we can do that because He shares His power with us to do so. Luke 10: 19 is one of the references.

Disciples of today, US, can not fault those Diciples because we have not believed so much of what Jesus taught us either.  We have often had assistance to NOT believe from our Teachers of The Word, that all the miracles of THAT time have passed away.

That is not all they have mis-taught us either, but I firmly believe that none of my teachers would have taught me error on purpose.

However, we cannot fault them, because we have not bothered either to read The Bible for ourselves allowing Holy Spirit to teach us TRUTH. 

The number one thing we ALL need to do is read The Holy Bible FOR OURSELVES with daily consistency.

 When chapter 5 begins we then see why Jesus wanted to go to “the other side.”

There was a man there possessed of many demonic spirits. He was their slave and they tortured him day and night. He could not live among humans but rather lived among the tombs of the dead, day and night crying and cutting himself with stones. His internal pain might have been relieved by external pain.

Many are the people of our day too who are possessed, and some harassed, and oppressed, by those demonic spirits. They need deliverance and Jesus showed US HOW to do that.

Was the man calling out for help and Jesus heard him? Why Jesus decided to go there, we can only imagine the reasons; but the man ran to Jesus and fell down before Him.

Demons did then and do now KNOW WHO Jesus is.

All Jesus did was to say, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit." AND THEY DID!

The Disciples of Jesus today, US, are to use the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and plead His Blood, and command, and at the Name of Jesus and by His Blood Sacrifice, the unclean demonic spirits have to obey BECAUSE we are Ambassadors of The Kingdom, and we have AUTHORITY granted to us from Jesus.

It is a good, even necessary thing for us to consider, that we are NOT ourselves holding hands with the demonic realm by engaging sin in our lives.

Jesus told the man, as He did to others as well, to NOT tell what had happened. It made the headlines every time!

We can imagine how relieved and full of hope those whom Jesus healed and delivered were, they had a new lease on life!  They were going to tell it!

THAT is what Jesus, God, and Holy Spirit want for each one of us. God wants us FREE of domination by all evil.

Jesus CAME to seek and to save ALL that are lost. The  Demoniac was NO different. We cannot get so deep into sin that Jesus cannot pull us out.

Mark 5: 15: “And they, (the towns people) came to Jesus to see him that was possessed of devils now sitting clothed in his right mind: and they were afraid.”

We cannot permit fear to rule us. First Testament and New Testament both give us the command, “Fear NOTHING!” The only “fear” we entertain is reverence for A God Who is ALL Powerful, but not mean to us. He invites us to come boldly to Him, first for SALVATION from our SIN with which we are born, and then to possess the Power that Holy Spirit gives to us to live our life rightly before God. He hears us from far away we would think. The truth is that He is a near as our breath.

Whatever we need help with, call out to God and ask for help. God never fails to help us.
