The Standard Yardstick

1 John 2:3-4
"[3]And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments.
[4]If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth." New Living Translation, NLT.

It is not a difficult thing to know your status and standing before God. Most especially when you claim that you belong to the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.

The standard yardstick to measure the truth of your declaration is obedience. You know whether you are obedient to His instructions or not. If you fail to obey Him, you deceive yourself. Not only that, you are far from the truth. Self-deception is equivalent to self-destruction. Why should you destroy yourself?

Why?

No provision for liars in the kingdom of God. Destruction is their portion.
Keeping the word of God is the strong evidence that you know and in Him, Jesus Christ.

Therefore, know and be well rooted in Him and it shall be well with you in Jesus name.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
