Encouragement
I’m sure that there are many of us who feel like we don’t quite fit in with our families, the people who consider themselves our friends, on our job, and sometimes even in church. We feel alienated, and we suffer a lot of persecution and criticism. I’ve always felt like I didn’t belong – in my family, in school, on most of my jobs, and even in my church. There were times that I would just cry and ask God why people didn’t like me or why I couldn’t be a part of the popular crowd. It got to the point that I didn’t need friends to hang out with on a daily basis, and talk to on the phone. I don’t have friends that I talk to every single day or see every day. I have friends that we talk on various occasions with words of encouragement and prayers, but as for someone who I must talk to and hang out with every day, or at least once every week, I don’t have. And, I don’t feel bad about it. Most of the people in my church don’t talk to me and act strangely toward me, and that’s okay too. I’m fine with it because relationships can hinder you from doing what God has called you to do. On every job that I’ve been on, I’ve had to work harder than anyone else and received the least recognition and promotional opportunities, and that’s okay too because God has my reward in the end. I know we look at people who we know are living a life that is full of manipulation, lies, cheating, stealing, mistreatment of others, abuse, and cruelty, and the person seems to prosper; and, we sometimes wonder why. I want to let you know that there is no need to wonder because the reward that they receive here may be the only reward they will ever have. You, on the other hand, are working for and will receive an eternal reward, which is far greater than popularity, material riches, fortune or fame. So, if you feel like you don’t belong here, it’s because you are a stranger travelling through this barren land. You will get home one day, and at home, you will feel. Continue in God’s abundance.
Sometimes I take a step back to look at my life
And wonder why it’s filled with so much heartache and strife.
I wonder why so many people are against me,
And discredit the good I try to do and be.
I wonder why my burdens are so heavy to bare
And the troubles are so many to share.
I wonder why most of the time I stand alone
And I sometimes feel alienated, even in my own home.
I wonder why I’m mistreated by the ones closest to me
And why I’m criticized so because who I am and try to be.
I wonder why others hesitate and refuse to offer help in my time of need
And why for the pay I’m due, I have to work hard and sometimes beg and plead.
Then God opened up the truth to me
So that I could stop wondering long enough to see
That I’m one of the peculiar people that He spoke of
And I’m persecuted and mistreated because of Him and His love.
He allows me to feel as if I’m all alone
So that the need for friends won’t hinder my journey home.
He hardens the hart of everyone else
So that I can learn to live without the approval of everyone else.
He gave witnesses to the path that He’s placed me on
To show that I’m not the first and definitely not alone.
David was the so-called “Black Sheep” of his family,
But it had to be that way to fulfill his spiritual destiny.
Noah was laughed, ridiculed and called crazy for what he believed in;
But, he was the one who survived and able to tell the story in the end.
Jesus, Himself, endured much persecution and alienation,
But it was to prevent relationships from hindering Him being the Savior of all creation.
So, don’t feel bad because you seem to be the “Black Sheep”
Because the purpose of your alienation and persecution runs deep.
There’s no need to worry about how you’re treated from day-to-day
Because your trials and tribulations strengthen, build and mold you along the way.
