  It is amazing how slow we are to thank God sometimes for clear answers to our prayers. Many times I suspect that we never get around to it, which is far worse than being slow to give thanks for the specific answer to prayer. It's as if we assume that we deserve the answers and the blessings without even needing to ask.  But in actuality ingratitude is a main way of measuring the hardness of the heart.  The longer the delay between the arrival of the blessing of an answered prayer and the giving of thanks for that blessing, the harder the heart. 
  Another indication of the condition of the heart is as follows: where and when the voice is harsh and shrill, there in that place the heart is the more hard and shriveled.
