We must REFUSE doubt, fear, worry, anger, jealousy, covetousness, bitterness, resentment, offense ……. REFUSE!
The enemy’s constant temptation is to get us to walk in the flesh. He does this by getting us to doubt God’s word as he did with Eve, to fail to fully trust God’s promises of provision and care in this life. When we walk by faith, believing God’s word all out, we walk in the Spirit and the enemy cannot touch us. When we walk in the flesh, he can devour us.
Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith… 1 Peter 5:8-9a ESV
We can tell if we are in the flesh or the Spirit by our symptoms. Every symptom I have listed above is of the flesh. These are all warning signs that we are walking by sight and not by faith. In themselves, they are all sins that lead to more visible outward acts of sin.
For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin. Rom 14:23b ESV
When we are in the flesh it is as if we are standing on a slippery slope, one wrong step and down we go into more sin. So, do you understand why the enemy wants you in the flesh?
Thankfully, in Christ we are protected from sins condemnation, we are under grace and no longer under the law (Rom 6:14). But God does not want us in turmoil that leads to outward acts of sin that can hurt us and others. He wants us walking by faith in the Spirit. This is the only way to defeat the flesh and naturally produce the fruits of the Spirit.
The only permanent solution is to stop doubting and believe God’s promises all out. We must trust our heavenly Father. His peace and power are ours; we just need to believe and trust Him completely.
Dear Father, help us to stand firm in the faith, forever refusing the enemy’s temptations to walk in the flesh. Help us to believe your promises as if our life depends on it, because we know it does.
Many more New Covenant Bible Studies HERE. Jesus poured out His blood for the New Covenant of grace and truth, replacing the Old Covenant law of Moses. Believers are exclusively under the New Covenant, the last will and testament of Jesus that began after the cross.
And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.” Luke 22:20
