“Memories” Gifts Left Behind   Jane H. Young

  It’s always hard when Holidays roll around and we are feeling the emptiness in our hearts, because someone we love is no longer with us. Do we carry out our normal traditions? I think so, that is one of the best ways to honor and remember them, doing what they loved the most, during the holidays.

 Think about something, it doesn’t matter what it is really, but something you could count on them to do every holiday, then honor that memory gifted to you; by doing it yourself. You might cry some, but it’s ok! Tears are Gods way of helping us through hard times, a little bit at the time.

 Very often, holiday sadness comes from the interruption of former traditions. It’s ok to create a new tradition while also embracing and carrying out that tradition of your love one; that one thing they did for as long as you can remember.

"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going." John 14:1-4 NASB

In your time of grief it may be difficult to be grateful, but for your mental and physical health, practice thankfulness. Take some time to write down the things that were special about your loved one. Thank God for those attributes, the gift of memories, and the legacy left behind. 

Open your heart and hear the Lord whispering to you, “The one you love is with me and are doing fine." Keep your heart open to the special love messages from the Lord to you.
