David means beloved. The number of the star of King David is fourteen and that star is in the center of Israel national flag today. Historical contexts allegedly affirm that David was once saved by the fastest weaving spider web in the cave when in pursuit. Peter prophesied that the confession of David that ‘holy one will not see decay’ was fulfilled when Jesus was resurrected. 'Jesus - meaning he will save his people from their sins' was born in town of David - 'Bethlehem - meaning house of bread'.
David foresaw Jesus when he told ‘the Lord said to my Lord sit thou at my right hand until I make thy enemies thy footstool’. This made David a prophet. The first Lord is God and the second is Jesus. Every time he sinned David returned back to God that made him the man after God’s own heart. When prophet Nathan brought judgement also he returned to God. He recorded psalms for school of praise. He was worshipper of the Lord.
David most of the time enquired from the Lord even of royal matters for enhancements. David showed grace to Saul’s family because of his best friend Jonathan for which he hosted 'Mephibosheth - meaning from the mouth of shame' in palace. David never was bruised in the wars. David told to King Araunah that he will pay and take because he will not give to the Lord without paying the cost for it.
He was a mere shepherd who ruled the United Kingdom. He served God with entire heart. He died a natural death full of years. He committed adultery with ‘Bethsheba - meaning daughter of an oath' and their first born died. He even killed ‘Uriah - meaning God is light’. His own son 'Absolom - meaning father of peace' tried to kill David. David army commander Joab killed Absolom and David did not tolerate that mishap.
God got angry on Israel and made Satan to entice David to number Israel. This is sabotage or deliberate destruction. For God’s honour and Israel’s humility. Handing over to Satan for redemptive restoration. Using Satan and throwing Satan. Till date churches remember David in their preachings on Lord's days.
He was kept from building temple because his hands are filled with blood for he killed many. But he arranged all the pre-requisites for building the same. He acted insane before King Aschish to live. He was eighth son of 'Jesse - meaning God exists' of Bethlehem. Blind Barthamaeus exclaimed all the more Jesus thou Son of David have mercy on me. Jesus was from kingly line because from Judah tribe of David.
He displayed utmost courage when he killed huge titan - Goliath of Gath. His practice was to kill lion and bear with stones from sling. His wife did not like him dancing at the Ark of the Covenant. 'Jonathan - meaning God has given' was friend in need was a friend indeed for David. Because Jonathan spared David’s life from his own father.
David had many wives and concubines but there were no divorces. They endured. This illustrates consistency. Judge 'Samuel - meaning heard of God' anointed David as King. In his life he patterned that everything works for the good of him. Psalm 23 was a praise for providence of shepherd. Psalm 40 was for expression in depression times. Psalm 51 was written in the context of repentance of king from the sin of adultery with Bethsheba. King 'Solomon - meaning man of peace' was the second son of David and Bethsheba.
'Saul - meaning great’ was loophole for King David whereas he was his own father-in-law. David spared King Saul life two times even though King Saul tried to kill David in multiple occasions. David spared because Saul was anointed king of Israel. David was king over 12 tribes of 'Israel - meaning wrestles with God'. David was from the tribe of 'Judah - meaning thanksgiving'. Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin. Jews was diminutive for Judahites. 'Mary - meaning bitter rebellion' and 'Joseph - meaning may he add' were from Judah tribe. Jesus is root of Jesse and lion of Judah. David was musician of harp. Saul was jealous of his successor David.
