Thoughts at the Beginning of Covid

I've seen so many people losing their minds over having to stay home due to Covid. They are frantically posting about the government taking away their freedom and forcing them to do what they don't want to do. But what if this is God putting us in Time Out for a little while and saying, "Slow down. Take a load off. Have a seat. "Be still and know that I am God." Rediscover your family. Look at My creation turning into springtime." What if?

Having been retired for 2 years now, I've learned a lot about pacing myself and not having to get everything done on the weekends. But these past days are teaching me even more to slow down, be aware of my surroundings, don't try to cram every moment full of activities, pace myself, and listen for God's still, small voice. I'm getting way more reading done, my garden is being planted at a less than break-neck speed, and my house is being more thoroughly cleaned. Small chores that fell through the cracks before are getting accomplished.

I have nowhere to go, and shouldn't go there anyway. We are not watching much TV and what we watch is Netflix or Amazon, so no media news. I've discovered I don't need Hollywood celebrities, athletes or politicians to tell me what to think or keep me entertained. We listen to Moody Radio and sometimes Rush Limbaugh. My husband is healing from his surgery without having to go back to work, possibly before his body was ready.

I wonder what kind of change this time out will make in society when all is said and done. I wonder what changes will be made in me. Will I have learned to trust my God more, no matter what comes? Will my imagination be stimulated more without the endless chatter of TV and media? Will my prayer life be expanded? Will my relationship with my husband be strengthened? Will I appreciate my church more?

So many questions, but plenty of time to ponder them. Thank You, Jesus, for ordering our lives in this way.
