Christians are born to. Disciples are made.

We are disciples in discipline to disciple.

“Go and make disciples” is the vital motto of the Great Commission.

Disciple is made in master’s discipline. And he is the proof for master’s discipline.

The goal of making disciples is to produce disciples.

2 Kings 2:7, 8 Fifty men of the company of the prophets went and stood at a distance, facing the place where Elijah and Elisha had stopped at the Jordan. And Elijah took his mantle and folded it together and struck the waters, and they were divided here and there, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.

These 50 remained while the disciple Elisha went to the master Elijah.

Hebrews 12: 7-11. Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Matthew 10:24, 25 "A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household!” Master > Disciple.

John 15:20 Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. Master > Disciple.

12 disciples influenced by their relationships.

Three examples for disciples.

John the Baptist John 5:35

John was a lamp that burned and gave light and you chose for a time to enjoy his light. Jews said that he had devil. Peter, Andrew, James and John were his disciples. Peter influenced Mark.

Jesus Christ Matthew 11:29,30

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Jews said that he was glutton and winebibber. Jews wanted to separate people from Jesus. Being God emptied himself.

Apostle Paul 1 Corinthians 11:1

Follow me as I follow Christ. Jews wanted to separate people from Paul. Influenced Luke and Timothy.

Three of them are killed. They were successful and their disciples also were successful because of their relationships. The goal of disciple is to enter the discipline of master.

Blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church. – Tertullian.

Persecutions are one of the great blessings.

John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

If Jesus calls, he bids us come and die (not physical death). - Bonhoeffer.

There is no success without a successor. So make disciples.

God’s treasure is not money but people and he will equip people to train build his treasures. - Bill Hybels. Senior Pastor. Willow Creek Church.

Success is measured more at work. Success is measured in soul-winning and transformed lives.

Influence more than you yourself is influenced.

Relationship means ability to bring people along with you.

Intuition means pastor can change congregation from unconscious to conscious whenever he wants to.

Build trust.

Deal with compatibility is always less than deal with incompatibility. - Leo Tolstoy. Chinese christian author.

How is your discipline? Are you strong in true discipline of Jesus?

Lastly how we are now.
